DVD is Mpeg2 video and AC3 audio. Why would you want to insert another conversion into the workflow?

I can't really help you because I only use DVDA to make my DVDs and I use the MPEG templates for DVDA. The video and audio ON the DVD are MPEG2 and AC3 respectively. Vegas has a direct-to-DVD option that I've never used, but it also creates the MPEG2 and AC3 files. (It's in Tools/Burn Disc/DVD). You will have to refer to what formats your DVD burning program wants. But, note that ON the DVD, you will have MPEG2 and AC3. If your DVD burning program takes something else, I guarantee that it's transcoding to MPEG/AC3 with a possible hit on quality.

Steve, that program only works if you have DVD Architect and Eric has already said that he doesn't.
My suggestion would be to render out a DV-AVI file, give that to Windows DVD creator and hope that it knows what to do with it :)

Like I said, I've only used DVDA for the past ten years, so I don't know the workflow for other disc burning programs. I did use the Vegas direct render to DVD once.

Windows DVD Maker will take your AVI and convert it without you having to reconvert it. Have you tried this already? In short, just try adding the file. In the options, choose the highest possible quality.

Edit
You can see somewhere in the temp files directory that DVD Maker (I hope that's what you meant by Windows DVD Creator) will make an MPG anyway. Just use your original.
