Sony Vegas Pro 10 vs 13

I have been using Vegas Pro 10 for a while now. And I haven't had the money to upgrade. However, I bought a new PC and I was thinking about going ahead and buying the new 13. Does the new 13 work like 10 did. I am used to 10 completely and I really don't want to have to learn too much new stuff. Thanks!

Hmmm... There isn't really much you'd have to learn going from 10 to 13. However, you're going to have to confirm your new PC is up to spec. VP13 is ONLY 64bit.

Ok then. My new PC runs Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I will have a look at some videos showing the new 13 and judge from there. Thank you.

I got Vegas 13 primarily to edit 4k video, which 10 can't do (if it even can it's barely able to).

It all depends on what features you use. Vegas Pro 10.0 and 12.0 are virtually identical but 13.0 introduced a few minor UI changes. They moved some of the icons from the top toolbar to just under the timeline. If these are icons that you use a lot it may take some getting use to. Personally, I hardly ever use them because I use keyboard shortcuts a lot so I didn't even notice the change until someone pointed it out to me. So it all depends on how you use Vegas Pro. For the most part, there isn't a lot of difference and you'll be productive almost instantly.

You have nothing to worry about Daryl, Vegas Pro 13 handles
just the same way as Vegas 10, only with vast improvements.
Nothing to hesitate about!

Vegas 13 has a feature I practically would have paid for on its own, which is that when I cut a part of an event and then ripple the events after it, the cursor goes back to wherever the rest of the event I cut ripples to. I love it. It was so tedious doing that before.

I don't remember requesting it, but I can't imagine editing without it. I didn't even realize this could be a feature, but it makes so much sense. This, along with making the power button on TV remotes in the same place on every one, should be legally mandated.
