Where to find the Plugins folder?
on May 12, 2014 at 6:18:57 pm

I have saved dozens of plugin chains that created a particular colouring/visual effect I wanted, but I had to change computers so I saved all the files hoping I could readd them into Sony Vegas the next time I install it. I can't seem to find the folder with all the plugins anymore though. Where can I find it? Or is there any other way of importing the files into Vegas?

Hello

After looking on my computer for a bit I stumbled across a folder called OFX Presents located in my documents. The folder contained all my custom plugin presents for Sony Vegas.

Is this what you were looking for?

Mine look like this (the old ones I saved from vegas pro 9):

I can't find anything similar now, and I tried saving new chains so I can test where they end up. Can't trace them.

Oh hmmm. Sorry but I am not sure where they would go. Have you tried looking around the program files? There might be something in the Sony folder. I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 12, so I'm not sure if its different with pro 9 or not.

If you are try trying to transfer Preset chains between computers, use the Sony Preset Manager which you can download from their Utilities page. It will let you save the presets to a file that you can transfer to your other computer and install.

I didn't know about Preset Manager, thank you! But what about the files I already have and want to import? I saved the individual files and folders I could find under plugins and now I have a bunch of .sfv files from my old computer. Preset Manager only accepts preset packages I see.
This is the new chain I saved as a test:

How come it appears to be located in a folder that I can't find through any search method? I was thinking of directly adding all my saved files to that folder, if I can actually see it somewhere. Wouldn't it work?

[Laura Dumitrescu] "How come it appears to be located in a folder that I can't find through any search method?"
Because it's not a folder. These are Windows Registry entries. That's why Sony provides a tool to move them. Otherwise there is no way to get to them.
