Encoding AVCHD and MOV for Stock Video Use

I am using Vegas 12. I have an opportunity to take some of my AVCHD (Sony Z7U) and MOV (Canon 60D) files and provide them for sale for stock video use.

For general use what should I encode them as to be used cross platforms? Mp4? And then what would be the exact setting for encoding these for others to use in their edit systems.

I want to get the best quality out of my original video files?

Thank you

If you are going to compete with stock footage companies I would look at the formats that they use. Most stock footage that I have purchased has used the Photo-JPEG codec in a QuickTime container. This is very high quality and any NLE on any platform can ingest it.

Just make a custom QuickTime template in Vegas Pro and select Photo-JPEG as the video format and disable the audio.

Thank you John,
I was looking at the rendering options and need some help.
Under qucktime do I click on one of the options and go to customize template?

Then set my HD Frame Size. 1920 X 1080 (which I believe is what the sony z7u is set for.)

Then my frame rate - which is ntsc.

Video format - Image Jpeg

You mentioned to uncheck audio- What if some of the clips need the wild sound? What option should I use?

Thanks again - this is so helpful.

[Duane Weed] "Video format - Image Jpeg"
Video format: Photo - JPEG

If you want to include audio, it should be Uncompresssed / 48,000 Hz/ 16 bit for best quality and compatibility.
