There's a hole in my video effects?
on Feb 18, 2018 at 12:36:38 pm

I've implemented a Sony TV Simulator effect in my video, but there's always a hole in it where the video appears normal. The hole is always in the same spot; I can pan/crop the video clip and the hole stays in the same position and side.

Anyone know how to get rid of this?

Hi J.R.

Are sure/positive that it's not part of the template ? Do you have the same problem if you use another effect beside TV Simulator ?

Send me a link to your template and I'l see if I can duplicate the problem.

Cheers!

Yeah, I tried Sepia Tone and it's the same problem in the same spot no matter what track it's on.

It looks like you have FX Bypass enabled. Try disabling it and see if that fixes it.

Glad that worked. Actually it's an extremely useful setting to be able to get a quick before and after view of what your plug-ins are doing to your video but if you don't know it's enabled... I agree the results are a bit strange. 😉 (now you know)

Indeed. Once you’ve got to grips with its options, try the Copied to Clipboard facility working with this feature. I’ve used this option to colour correct a Target Event from a Source Event somewhere else on the Timeline. Very useful.

[Graham Bernard] "try the Copied to Clipboard facility working with this feature."
That is an excellent point and I bet a lot of people don't even know about the Clipboard feature.

What is the Clipboard Feature? ...I'm glad you asked! 😉

If you are trying to match two clips, you can place the Timeline Cursor over the first clip and copy it to your Clipboard. Then move the Timeline Cursor over the clip you want to work on and enable the Clipboard option and select either half of the screen and whatever is on the clipboard will be split screen with your live clip. This makes it very easy to match color, contrast, masks, position, or whatever. Very useful.

I know of no other NLE that has this feature.
