Need assistance with keyframe tracking..
on Oct 27, 2017 at 10:51:50 pm

Hello!

To make it sweet and short, Is there a way to motion keyframe track an object that is slightly behind another object?

For example, (https://www.staples-3p.com/s7/is/image/Staples/s0334840_sc7?$splssku$) If the items on the desk were being moved around, could I place an image on something that was behind the monitor and the corners of the image would be cut out? Like its really in the world. Normally you try to track it and the keyframe picture is always infront of whatever you're tracking, but is there a way to make it behind a different object?

Yes, that is exactly it. Sorry, it's a little bit hard to explain!

Thank you so much.

Well, actually; Not quite.

I mean actually having a video where no object is transparent and I would have to move a virtual object through the real objects exactly like that.

Here is another quick version of what I think you are trying to do with a NON Transparent JPG picture

Hi Marius.. What version of Vegas are you using? I will make a veg file for you to explore and provide a few notes.

Hello Marius

Here is the veg file in V14.
11826_masking.zip

You will notice I have duplicated the original picture of yours to another time line and then Used Pan/Crop window to access the Mask section. The only other thing I did for quickness was to Chroma key out the white around the hand instead of making a png

I expect there are tutorial explaining more about this but it you examine all the timelines Track Motion key frames and the Pan/Crop MASK cut outs you will hopefully see how it works.

Hope this help...

Hello. The veg file seems to not work for me.. I'm really sorry but is there a way if you could screenshot some of the pan/crop sections and keyframes?

Thanks again, Marius.

Hello Marius

Not sure why you cannot open it. Have check and repacked it in a rar file
11833_newmasking.rar.zip

This is for V14 version. What error do you get?

I think I left an addition veg called COW in the zip but the veg you need is "new masking.veg" in this new package.

Try this one

it is not easy to do screen shots of how the keyframes work etc and it is to complicate to explain in a simple screen shot. See if you can open this one

This one works!

The last one was my fault, I didn't extract the files to a folder and ended up having missing sources..

Thank you so much John, you're seriously a life saver. This was my first time using this site, and definitely not my last.

Hi Marius

All you have to do now is practice a bit. Good luck

John
