Render problem, VEGAS 13 - InternetHD 1080p
on Jun 8, 2017 at 10:02:34 am

Hi,

I render my videos in InternetHD 1080p, and I have some problems regarding the output material. I render pictures with music attached, and I only add the sharpening tool to the image. When I render, the video that comes out has moving pixels every 5-10 seconds or so. The material is normal, and the pixels change after 10 seconds, then changes back, and this happens throughout the video. The change is really subtle, but it is easy to see if you focus on it, and looks unprofessional.

How do I fix it? I use the standard 1080p settings for InternetHD in Vegas 13

Thanks!

Two examples. I can show you the output on YT as well. It looks pretty bad.

Even worse on this one.

My channel is semi big, but I do not know what I am doing wrong. I am a novice when it comes to Vegas, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just check that when you added the sharpening you did not accidentally added a key-frame. That's all I can think of.

Hi John

So, if I read this right, the specs that you sent me are from the files that you uploaded to Youtube ?

What was (were) the effect(s) that you use on top of your background ? (Screen shot of your timeline would be nice)

When you say ''I use the standard 1080p settings for InternetHD in Vegas 13'', are you referring to MainConcept AVC/AAC ?

Have you tried rendering with Sony AVC/MVC Internet 1920X1080-30p also ?

Do you get the same effect with other types of render ? (.AVI, .MPG2, ETC...)

Cheers !

Example from my newest video. Fade effects and 0.5 sharpening on pictures (might be too much), and 0.6 sharpening on text. That is basically it. Correct, specs sent are from the two YT videos.

Yeah, InternetHD is referring to MainConcept, and I have also tried Sony AVC. I have not tried anything else, though. I cannot show the old .veg file as I do not save my project files. However, it happens on my new posts as well, although my newest videos are more subtle.

Should I try to render it in another format?

Thanks!

Hi John

I am seeing some artifacting in your blacks. (pixel blocks) For some reason the file may have been too compressed at some point.

When you are in Customize Template / Projects / Video rendering quality, Did you select Use Project Settings or Best ?

In File / Properties... / Video, can you do a screen grab of your settings ?

Cheers !

Hi John

Try these settings in File / Properties... / Project Properties:

11449_projectproperties.jpg.zip

Setting Good in Full-resolution rendering quality uses bilinear scaling without integration, while Best uses bicubic scaling with integration. If you're using high-resolution stills (or video) that will be scaled down to the final output size, choosing Best can prevent artifacts.

On a final note, use the 8 bit setting for when you are editing and the 32-bit floating point (video levels) when you do your final render so not to bog down your rig.

Let me know how it works out.

Cheers !

Hi,

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/yfp5h45k6q08ew9/AACFssjBgwhWk4RNJ80z3qwSa?dl=0

Various files are added here. I have tried to solve the problem on different sites, but to no avail. See if some of these can help you. The rendered file with your settings are included, in addition to the .veg file. Your render definitely seemed to help, and the video looks better in comparison when uploaded to YouTube. It seems to mainly be a problem with Youtube, though, as the videos look much better when using the local file. However, I believe the problem is still there. In my original AVC file I can spot it playing the local file, which leads me to the conclusion that it is prevalent in all my renders. Then, when YouTube recompresses the file, it is more noticeable because of the quality drop. Hence why the issue is easier to spot in lower quality, for instance 720p instead of 1080p.

It is just speculation, though. Again, thanks for helping!

With your settings. It seems like the problem is mostly on YouTube's part, and it shows up easier in certain photos, because of the coloring. Using logos with little/no shadow around them also seem to make it better.

I cannot really see it in 1080p, but it is still slightly visible on the rock part of the image in 720p. Thanks for all the help! I do not really know if there is anything else to do. It does not bother me on this particular upload, but I know that it reacts differently with other photos.

Hi john

Here's a link that will explain what's happening:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compression_artifact

You can minimize the artifacting by rendering progressive and using a .PNG file instead of .JPEG

Also, go to Custom Settings and select Use deblocking filter, that will reduce the amount of unwanted artifacts.

Cheers !

P.S.: Is that your music ? (it's part of my playlist now...)

Hi,

I am going to try those settings next time I render!

[Francois Pénzes] "P.S.: Is that your music ? (it's part of my playlist now...)"

Glad you liked it! I do not make the music, I am just a promoter. I ask for permission to use songs I like, and post them if granted.
