Vegas / Youtube Pixelation
on May 10, 2017 at 3:52:28 pm

I've been fighting the Youtube Pixelation issue for years. Has anyone figured out whats causing it? I've tried all the suggestions/settings/render/format and whatever else you can think of.

Pixelation is really bad on fast movement in textured areas like grass. Also using Video Velocity is a mess with regard to the same issue.

Internet speed - 150 mbps
Computer - 5820k, R9 390, 32gb, SSD for OS and Vegas, 4tb black.

Do DaVinci Resolve renders exhibit the same problems when uploaded? I see lots of fast motion videos on Youtube that don't have the pixelation problems and wonder what their solution is.

Comments appreciated. Rick

Can you provide us with the Media format you are using and what render settings.

If you use the utility called MediaInfo https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo , let us know what the various details are.

With this it will be clearer as to the issue as normally most YouTube videos are relatively pixelated free..

Thanks for the response. Mediaarea is really neat! Here is my youtube video that has pixelation. I see other drone videos that don't have the pixel blur, so I know it can be done. Comments appreciated. Rick

is it possible to take short video with your drone ( maybe a couple of minutes fast and slow moving ) and upload it so I/We can download original video and have a close look at it.

I've seen posts about this problem many times. Mostly with gamer's that use a really high frame rate screen capture app. Have you seen any 1080 60p youtube videos with that much detail, (Green landscape) with that kind of fast motion without pixelization issues? I suggest you make several 30 second samples rendered at different formats and bitrates, then upload each and see which gives you the best results. Also are you downloading the youtube videos with this problem to see if it's a streaming issue. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

I have been fighting pixalation with youtube recently. I found a fix for me. I render the video at the highest bitrate possible- then I download this file into youtube- youtube will always degrade the original file but using the highest quality rendered video helps ALOT!

I have also then taken that high bitrate video and then used handbrake and downsized it- that also helps.

I am wondering if anyone has used this Free plugin for Vegas that works under Vegas Pro 8 - 13?. It is called the Video4YouTube located here: http://vegasaur.com/Video4YouTube This is created by the author of the Vegasaur Toolkit Plugin program.

I have not used this myself, but since it is free, I wonder if this will help alleviate some issues users are experiencing. Plus, what is the worst? If this does not work you can always uninstall it.

Hopefully this works.
