Not sure if this is the right place for me to post this question so please feel free to point me in the right direction if not.
I've captured a few Mini DV tapes using Vidcap and it's output .AVI files with a DV codec, however my client is looking for .MOV files with a DV codec. Am I right in thinking I can just change the file extension to .MOV and they'll work the same way or do I need to physically convert everything to .MOV?
You need to change the container, I think it's possible.
I used ffmpeg before to convert .mov to mp4 (actually just changed the container format, the vide stream left untouched).
I would try something like
ffmpeg -i dv.avi -acodec: copy -vcodec: copy output.mov
