SV ProDAD Stabilization Plugin for Clip NOT timeline event?
on Nov 28, 2016 at 9:08:26 pm

I want to stabilize a clip. NOT an event in the timeline. The Prodad plug-in does not respond when adding it to a clip from the Project Media tab. See attached screen captures.

Reason is, this will reduce my workflow. Whenever I adjust in and out points on the timeline the stabilization makes me re-run. I'd ignore till the end of the project but their reminder to stabilize is so large you cannot see the clip *sigh*

Short rant I am not too excited about Magix support. Wrote them and mercalli same question about the new sony vegas stabilization plugin. Magix did not even read my question, the responded with the problem I wrote them and said add the effect to the timeline event *sigh* Prodad told me to read the manual :(

Workaround is to stabilize the event and then render it to a lossless file format (like mxf). Use this stabilized file in your project. Personally, I don't do this as I can generally work around the Mercalli banner by removing the Mercalli and then adding it back once the edit is final. This is not hard to do if you work in smaller sections (say 5 min or so) . It would be a huge pain in an hour long timeline with numerous shots to stabilize.

Yeah I had thought about adding the effect in the final render. I actually have the stand alone version of Mercalli ProDad as well but it only outputs in two or three formats and makes for a HUGE project folder when you stabilize as they do not compress much. I have not known how to tell their tech staff... but they are frustrating. I have wrote them twice now with similar responses.

Hopefully Prodad will update Mercalli to address such feature soon, in the mean time, and as you have the
standalone version, why not simply stabilize your shots first, then drop them on your timeline when doing
your edits then!

I have thought of using the standalone version then editing those on the timeline. Maybe by the time my new editing machine is built they will have the issues fixed ☺

Glad it's not me though as Mercalli said, "Read the manual" when I contacted tech support. Made me think I didn't know what I was doing ☺

Thanks!
