Possible to move several keyframes at once to another position?
on Aug 5, 2016 at 3:08:57 pm

Hi,

I would appreciate help: As my screen-recording shows (https://goo.gl/v5J3He), I'm trying to move two fx keyframes to the same position of another keyframe. However, I could move the keyframes just one by one, and I'm wondering if there is an easier way to move several keyframes at once to another position.

Thanks!

Drag across to select. Once lit, Drag to new position.

Other KF tips:

Drag across hold CTRL and drag you get copies!

Drag across, hold down ALT and drag end KF and you can spread them proportionally to each other. OR drag inwards and they will squash-up proportionally.

Drag across and copy move mouse cursor to another position and Paste!

Great fun.

Hi Grazie.
Many thanks for such a comprehensive answer!
I could test all your tips and learned a lot.
I just felt Vegas a bit unresponsive when "Drag across to select. Once lit, Drag to new position". I recorded another screen showing my trial (https://goo.gl/WYKMed). I could select the two first set of frames properly. However, when trying to broaden the selection to include more frames, the selection was cumbersome, imprecise. Even when I achieved it after many trials, the selection was made in a place of the timeline away from the keyframe itself.
Am I still doing something wrong?

After further testing, I realized that if the selection is made from the left to the right, the keyframes are included properly.
If the selection is made from right to the left, the issues I reported do happen.
Thanks for help!

Either direction works, it depends IF that first KF is right up against the far left Bar.

Hi Grazie,
Thanks for further feedback.
Even I change the keyframes order to fit "first KF is right up against the far left Bar", in my case it seems Vegas does select properly just when selection is from left to right.
I did another screen-recording, showing (and commenting) the right/left keyframe selection issue with more details: https://goo.gl/ZZoEId

I used to do it another way:
Find the first/last keyframe and select it by click.
Find the last/first keyframe, and shift-clikc it. This selects all keyframes inbetween as well.
Press ctrl-x
Find the new desired position of the first keyframe and press ctrl-v.
I feel this quicker and more comfortable than dragging around while probably there's a need to change timeline zoom level back and forth.

Just to put my 2 cents ;)

Kind regards

[László Kovács] "Find the last/first keyframe, and shift-clikc it. This selects all keyframes inbetween as well."

Thanks László.
This method worked 100%, making accurate any keyframe selection.
