Stills looking terrible after rendering
on Jul 19, 2016 at 9:22:32 pm

hello everyone!

i was wondering if someone has some advice for this problem i'm running into. So i'm doing a a season review video for Game of Thrones, the video project is supposed to have clips from the show (1080p) and then a bunch of stills i pulled form those same MKV files through VLC players snapshot function. after i render it, the video looks fantastic rendered in 1080p but the stills come out terrible after the render, the stills are high quality png. any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Your problem, most likely, is using stills from your video source. At best, the resolution will be HD and can be quite blurry unless there is no motion in the scene. Rather than using VLC, you could use Vegas. Just use the copy snapshot function. Regardless, you are still limited by the use of a frame from the video. IMHO stills from a video never look good unless there is zero motion--even then they're less than 2 MP.

Glad it worked for you and that the quality from the timeline is better. Also a lot easier. In the future, I'd stay away from VLC except as a media player.
