Multiple small projects

I have a MSP 12 Blu-ray project underway ... which will be 25 separate sources.

Am I better to create each one as a stand-alone video - render it and then drop the completed renders onto a 'single project timeline'

Or is it better to keep as the one project, and juts the single render.

I had thought of the former approach as I can complete each in turn ... just concerned if I am importing the .m2ts files will they then be re-encoded, and possibly reduce quality ?

Maybe even a 3rd approach .. I create as individual projects ... saving them, but not rendering.
This using cut & paste consolidate the projects into one single one when finished ?

Welcome advice from those that know.

I like to assemble large projects from small segments. I use the Nested Project feature of Vegas Pro to do this. No need to render anything. Create each segment in it's own project. When you want to put all of the segments together just create a new project and drop the .veg files onto the timeline and Vegas Pro will treat them just like any other piece of media with a single video and audio track. No need to cut and paste.

I also wouldn't worry about rendering. If you re-render .m2ts files once or twice, you are not going to see any appreciable degradation in quality. Sony MXF holds up petty well to re-rendering so even if you need to render out each section to place in a larger project, you won't loose any visible quality.

The OP uses MSP 12 and the Movie Studio versions do not support nesting projects (or render as MXF), so this old thread is still valid.

There are some points to consider mentioned here when using suggestions from the above thread.

Thanks to both ... it would seem my normal approach of creating multiple small projects.
Then cut&paste each event into master project is way to continue.

Sorry I missed the part about using Movie Studio. I would still render the segments and place them side-by-side in a master project. Cut-n-paste is too much work and leaves room for errors. You can use a lossless code like Lararith if you are worried about quality loss.
