How do I freeze markers on the timeline?
on Jul 8, 2015 at 7:41:28 pm

I tried looking in the help section, didn't find anything.

I did a search of the forums, but didn't find the right answer.

I don't want to spend hours trying to figure it out so can anyone please tell me, how do you freeze the markers on the timeline.

I am sure you all know what I mean but just in case,

I set up markers.

Now, I am still editing and so I am moving clips on the timeline, but the marker does not move w them so once you move some of the clips around the markers are rendered useless and all over in the wrong places?

Thanks in advance for any help

That's because the Markers are connected to the Timeline and have no relation to any of the clips on any of the tracks. They mark timeline positions. You can use Ripple Edit and set it up to have a marker move with Events if you want but use this carefully as it can really mess things up.

OH I see.

Ok fixes them to the timeline. I did not make that connection but now I see. Ahhhh!

OK thanks for the warning. IF there is a chance of really messing up then I won't fix the markers.

I'm doing ok just moving them back now - but I don't have too many so it's ok but if I had a lot of markers, couldn't do that.

But I only need a few of them at this point.

thanks again!

Try experimenting with Ripple Edit. I didn't mean for you to be afraid of using it, I just want you to be aware that you should turn it on when you need it and turn it off when you don't.
