Vegas rendering poor quality finish
on Jan 7, 2015 at 10:17:21 pm

So, I've used Vegas before, and have just installed it on my new machine. Im aiming for 1080p, 60fps videos. Now, from what i can remember, Rendering took a long time. On the new machine, it rendering 3 minutes vids in under a minute and the finsished product is awful.

I've set my project settings and my rendering settings to 1080p 60fps yet everytime the video is awful

Help!

What rendering type are you using? What render template? What is your delivery going to be? (DVD, Blu-ray, Apple TV, Internet?)

Hi John, the template i'm using is custom - 1980 x 1080p @ 60FPS. The Rendering type is Main Concept 1080p @ 60fps with quality set to best. The video is for youtube.

[Joe Lawrence] "The video is for youtube."
Try using MainConcept AVC/AAC with the Internet HD 1080p template without changing anything and see how it looks before you do anything custom.

You can also post a screen shot of your custom settings if you'd like us to look at them but I like starting with a standard template first.

Hi John, i think the issue may have been i was using 30FPS clips and trying to render at 60FPS, ive now recorded at 60FPS and the results seem much better. Here the video, not finished but uploaded for you to make a judgement on the quality.

There is zero pixilation in the raw footage which is captured with dxtory.

Here are the screens:

Can i ask, though, does 128mb for a 1min 20 sec of 1080p 60fps footage sound right?

[Joe Lawrence] "not finished but uploaded for you to make a judgement on the quality. "
The quality looks great to me. It's important to make sure that the frame rate for the project, media, and render all match as you have seen.
[Joe Lawrence] "...does 128mb for a 1min 20 sec of 1080p 60fps footage sound right?"
That sounds exactly like what you asked for. Let's do the math...

The only thing that determines the file size is the bit rate. You set your template to average 12,000,000 bits per second. To convert that into bytes we divide by 8 bits in a byte. 12,000,000 / 8 = 1,500,000 bytes per second. That's 1.5 MB per second. Your 1 minute 20 second video is 80 seconds. 1.5 MB/s x 80 = 120MB for the video, the other 4MB is the audio. So yes, 124MB for a 1 minute 20 second video @ 12,000,000 bps sounds exactly right.
