Animator, Cartoonist, Designer or Videographer Needed for Short Cookbook Video Trailer

My wife and I are co-authors of numerous books, mostly from smaller publishing houses. We’re looking for a cartoonist or animator (using simple stop-action photography, text, stock or other style) to help us create a funny, inspiring and/or provocative “book trailer” for our latest cookbook, Farmstead Chef (brief intro: http://www.farmsteadchef.com). The book will be released September, 2011. We will be doing a national book tour that includes the Mother Earth News Fairs in California and Pennsylvania as well as the Wisconsin Book Festival and other venues. The audience for the book is urban farmers, backyard gardeners, people who frequent farmers’ markets or own some green acres in the country and anyone who loves fresh, seasonal and local food.

Our goal (like everyone) is to create a video so funny and/or engaging around food (local, seasonal, fresh), that it would go viral. The video would not be about the book, per se, but about what the book represents. We see the video publicized through our speaking venues and possibly through magazines for which we write.

We can't afford a commercial firm but we may have a budget of $400 to $1,000 (we’re still confirming our ad budget with our publisher). We’d welcome as creative an approach as you like (think: dancing peas…). We’re looking to do a project something like those done by Free Range Studios or Epipheo Studios, but on a much lower budget and much shorter. These firms offer a sense of what we’re looking for in terms of voice, images and text, but we’re open to the addition of video clips if your approach to the subject uses it. We can provide a general overview or a detailed script of key concepts, depending on your preference. We’re quite open to incorporating text, author clips (provided), stock footage, live-action (stock or provided). The book trailer could be from 30 seconds to 2 minutes (including end title credits, etc.). Please send links to samples of your work and your contact information if interested.

I might be willing to squeeze this project in before the next one, and adjust my rates to fit your budget. My website is http://lademanarts.com, where you can find contact info and a reel. And here is a link to a reel of some projects I've completed in the last six months or so.

Let's talk about what you want to do!

Hi, I'd love to hear more about this project, if it's still relevant.
I'm relatively new in this so I don't have a demo reel, however you can see my recent videos on my Vimeo page:

or my website for illustration & design work:

Thanks,
Yuval.

I'm a former chef now working as a news video editor, and with some messing around with 2d animation background as well.

I'm including links to several of my videos below--don't worry, most of them are short--to give you an idea of the way I like to mix things up. I think you're kind of looking for a mix as well.

I bring up my culinary background--and, no, I wasn't a 'hamburger chef' at Krystal. . .I have real creds--well, because it might help to have someone who knows food work on something like this. Maybe. . .

If you're interested, get back and we can start tossing ideas back and forth.

It sounds like a video that would be lots of fun to make.

Here is a link to my Vimeo account, which has most of my work on it including my demo reel.

If I took on this project I would incorporate my video and motion graphics knowledge to create a professional product for you.

If you would like to talk further you can reach me at my email which is trheberling@gmail.com.

I look forward to hearing back from you.
