mpg2 encoding problems in episode
on Nov 14, 2007 at 12:23:25 pm

At work we have 2 G5's

When I capture footage using a dvcam deck from one of them, and encode that footage using episode to an mpg2 it is fine.

However, when I use the other one it basically completely messes up, the clip speeds up, but the audio stays the same.

I have tried all the different variables, but have come to the conclusion it is the G5

Can anyone please help?

What are you capturing in, FCP?

Have you taken the "bad" capture to the good G5 for encoding? What happens?

Also, have you taken the "good" capture to the bad G5 for encoding? What happens?

Are you using the same version of Episode Pro? Is it the latest 4.4? Are the MPEG profiles identical, have you copied them between the machines?

say im capturing from the bad g5

I capturing from a dvcam tape.

Then I take the footage into episode which I only have on the good g5, unfortunately.

I use 4.4.

It's such a strange thing. Stuff I encode from the good g5 works fune

Well the obvious answer is only use your good G5 to capture!

What are the differences between the 2 systems? What FCP, OS, QT version, etc? If you're using FCP have you trashed the user prefs? That sometimes can impact the QT exports, really. How do you transfer from the bad G5 to the good G5?
