Why does "Pass-through" option have an action on my audio track
on Dec 2, 2014 at 10:43:47 am

Hi,

I'm using Episode 6.4.6 and i'm trying to encode a prores with PCM audio track with x264 codec to put in a MP4 container.

I need the audio to remain the same so i select the Pass-through option in the Audio tab of the Format options:

Here are the specs of what i get after my workflow is done:

My source audio file from the prores:

Audio
ID : 4
Format : PCM
Format settings, Endianness : Little
Format settings, Sign : Signed
Codec ID : sowt
Duration : 23mn 9s
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 7 680 Kbps
Channel(s) : 10 channels
Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz
Bit depth : 16 bits
Stream size : 1.24 GiB (4%)
Language : English
Encoded date : UTC 2014-06-23 13:38:33

Audio from Episode's Pass-through fonction with my x264 video:

Audio
ID : 2
Format : PCM
Codec ID : fl32
Codec ID/Hint :
Duration : 23mn 9s
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 15.4 Mbps
Channel(s) : 10 channels
Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz
Bit depth : 32 bits
Stream size : 2.48 GiB (28%)
Language : English
Encoded date : UTC 2014-12-01 17:12:59
Tagged date : UTC 2014-12-01 17:12:59

I thought that Pass-Through meant that episode didn't perform anything more than a copy on the audio source file and i wonder why it change the bit-depth.
Do you know how to avoid this behaviour ?
