Converting .ts files to Quicktime or wmv in Episode
on Jun 21, 2012 at 4:51:04 pm

I have .ts files which I need to trim and convert to wmv and H.264 quicktime files using Episode

I notice that entering in and out points results in unusable files. However, I can convert to mpeg2 quite easily but the audio duration doubles up, leading to a double length video. If I use pass through it's fine.

I then cannot use the resulting mpeg2 file to cut or convert in any transcoder!

Any suggestions for how o do what I need to do and explainations for why what is happening happens?

Not sure what it does that; could be Episode doesn't like Transport Streams. Try MPEG Streamclip instead.

Already tried it and it won't accept them.

I have noticed that if I run .ts to mpeg-PS with pass through audio it works, but the audio codec is still an issue. However, running that file through Episode again to mpeg-PS with mpeg2 audio results in a usable file which I can manipulate.

But surely there's a more direct route?

Sorry I didn't see this last month.
I'm pretty sure you can use DVDxDV to rip a clean DV stream out of .TS files. Which can then read into Episode.
Kinda clunky, but at least it will get you from point A to point B.
