lower thirds with PI?

Just curious if anyone has some examples of lower thirds created with PI or has a tutorial on it? I am looking for something like they do on ESPN or news programs where the lower third also looks like it is in motion. Any visual examples to spark some creative juices would be great.

Or anything dynamic like this...

We've got a project file that we used a few years ago for our in-booth demos at tradeshows, but it's actually quite simple if you've got access to After Effects or any other application that can create "masks" (which is pretty much all of them, isn't it?)

You create a mask for the lower third "strip" (whatever shape you want). Then you can just load any particleIllusion-rendered footage you want. There are so many emitters that are perfect for "animated backgrounds" I don't even know where to start naming them. (Try doing a search in particleView for "light" or "dots" as a start.)

If you don't have an application that does masking, the project file we had used particleIllusion to create the mask from an image. Not as flexible as using your app's mask features, but it worked. I may be able to find this project file and upload it somewhere if there's enough interest.

I'd be very interested in that as sometimes you're on a machine that doesn't have any additional software except your NLE.

That is my goal, to do it all in PI and an NLE. If anyone has some success, please post! Thanks

Ok, I've finally got the lower third example project together.

The key is using an image's alpha channel to define the lower third area along with the "stencil" layer transparency option. You should be able to figure it out by analyzing the project file.

particleIllusion 3.0 only.
