loading a sequence
on Aug 31, 2006 at 2:14:21 am

hi,

i'm loading an animation sequence that i rendered in maya to use as an alpha emitter. the problem is it doesn't load all of the frames. i rendered 100 frames but the program says "the sequence has 9 frames...".

thanks,

joeyboy

It's probably due to the way the sequence is numbered. There should be some frame padding options within Maya's render settings. Make sure that the render comes out like:
file_0001, file_0002, file_0003, etc.

and not

file_1, file_2, file_3 to file_11, etc.

You can grab a free renaming program (I have one named Lupas Rename 2000 that works pretty good) if that is what the problem is. It usually beats renaming the files manually or rerendering.

maya can't seem to render with that naming system so i had to rename the rendered files. problem solved, thank you sir. i'll try to look for the program that you mentioned. it will be very useful.

If you look in the Maya Render Settings, under the Image File Output section there should be a Frame Padding box. Change that to 3 or 4 to give yourself some extra zeros.
