Although there is no link to it yet on the site, the new demo reel (the one we made for Siggraph) is now ready for viewing.

It's 11 MB. I suggest r-clicking the link above and "Save Target As...".

I plan on making some tutorials based on the clips that I made. It's been TOO LONG since I posted new tutorials.

Alan.

I'm working on a video tutorial on this, but the short answer is that it was shot against a green screen. I used line emitters to add some light falling on my arms and face, and duplicated the layer, blurred it, and animated its rotation to create the moving shadow.

It'll probably be a web tutorial, I don't have any plans for a new DVD yet.

Speaking of DVD's I just want to put a plug in there for Creative Cow Leader Andrew Kramer who filmed and created the orginal After Effects projects for the explosion scene and guy beaming up. We modified them slightly for the demo, but he did most of the hard work. pIllusion made the rest easy.

The footage was from his Creative Cow Master Series DVD: Serious FX and Compositing - ehich you can find at http://www.creativecowtraining.net.

Side note - For the record, No speed tricks were used in Alan's parts of the video. Alan actually does run around in circles that quickly when he's upset or has had too much coffee. I know it's hard to believe, but it's absolutely true. That and the fact that Alan's lower body is full interchangeable with an end-table. The video does not lie...
