Explosion on a z-axis ???
on Mar 6, 2006 at 10:49:47 am

Hi.
My problem is using effects on a z-axis.
This means there is a ground (for example a garden) and i use a explosion-effect.
I use the emitter : "Burst Chunks Test 0" from the explosions_01 library.
Now i see the emitters are flying to x&y destination.
I whant to change the direction to the z-axis. This means i whant to LY the emitter (rotate) so the emitters / particles are flying to the y and z directions.

Sorry for bad english (germany)!

If this work, i whant to put a 3d object in the middel of this explosion.
The particles behind this object shouldn

There are 2 ways to do this, depending on which direction you want "gravity" to work.

If you want gravity to rotate too (as if the "camera" were laid on its side), use the Layer Angle to rotate the entire layer.

If you want gravity to remain "pointing down", then just use the super emitter "emission angle" to set it to 90 or -90.

Did you try right clicking on the emitter and clicking "make elipse" or "make circle"?

There is a bit of z-depth trickery that you can do using the Size over Life graph, but there's no way to get it to explode across the ground and have some particles come at the camera, and others go away from it.

If you have a 3D program, you could render the effect off as an image sequence, map it onto a plane, and rotate it to match the ground plane.

Okay. Thank you for your Tips!
Would be a nice feature in further versions.

"3D" Emitters :))

Greets,
Dennis.
