I was using the shoot smoke emitter and was wondering if there is a way to stop the emitter emitting particles, but so that the particles that had already been created continue their behaviour. For example, I had the smoke shooting out of a hole and I wanted to have it stop splurting out but make the smoke that had been previously created still drift away and fade out. I tried shortening Active, but that gets rid of all the particles.
Set a couple of keyframes on the Number graph. By setting a key at 0, you'll stop the creation of new particles from that frame onward, but the particles already born will continue to live out their lives.
