Using letters in PI
on Jan 24, 2006 at 3:12:06 am

I am currently toying with using letters to create titles in PI. I will start off by saying that I am still using the demo version of PI so maybe that has some effect on why I can not achieve the result I am looking for.

I am using the MTV effect that comes with the demo and basically trying to make the title stay on the screen instead of fading after it finally centers on the screen. I have tried to change every setting to the left hand side of the screen with no luck, the title still fades off. Then I tried to change the colors in the properties menu for transparency over the life of the particle and the title still fades. Any help on how to get that title to stay on the screen?

Alsois there a way to actually have letters ect emit/become particles? Can someone point me in the direction of a tutorial for that?

That depends on what you mean. If you want the letters to break up into little pieces, you'll need to have a picture of your text and then follow either of the 2 tutorials found here under Elvis' Bio:

If you mean you want to have each individual letter fly off, that would require a lot of work - in which each letter would have to be it's own emitter, as a single particle - and you;d need to swap the original emitter out with all of these, and then animate them. You are much better off doing something like this in after Effects or another compositing program.
