Render with an Alpha Channel

Hey guys!

I just read the post from marcosf who asked if it was possible to render his clip with an alpha to export it into Adobe After Effects.

Thing is, my everyday's language is french and I didn't get well Alan Lorence's answer. Did he/you say the problem was gonna be fixed and there would be no solution for now and we would have to wait 'couple of months 'till everything gets fixed?!

If there's a solution, could you explain it with a very basic vocabulary so I might have chances of understanding?

Thx guys!

Really appreciate it.

The solution is to render to a sequence of images (like PNG, TIF, or TGA). pI can render those with alpha channels.

Thx for your response Elvis!

But..hey..I want a video. I don't want to spend 5 hours putting a TGA image after another in a video editor program :

Thx again.

Most compositors or editing programs allow you to import a sequence as you would a video clip. In the case of After Effects, just go to File>Import File..., select the first image in the sequence, and check the box that says "*** Sequence" at the bottom of the dialogue box.

There are different types of particles that requore different import techniques in AE - if you run into trouble, take a look at this tutorial:
