Particle Illusion Fusion DVD ROCKS!!!! - Thanks Aharon

Aharon,

I purchase your video on Thursday of last week, received it Monday and watched it all day today. Man, what a great video! I have had pillusion for about 7 months now and have just simply used it for transitions, backgrounds and blowing text up in a composition. I have been somewhat reticent to use it with some of my footage and you helped me understand how to better incorporate this software into AE. I cannot wait for volume 2 (at some point down the road).

BTW, the video is not only informative but it is really funny. The sections on slow motion and displacement maps got my creative juices flowing. I wanted to learn more and more and more...

Again, thanks.

Thanks Seth-

I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I did my best to be funny, but still teach you a bunch.

If these lessons help you create something cool, and you want to share it, please let me know. Maybe I'll even host the video at my site.

Thanks.

Aharon

Well Done buddy. I just got it today and just watched the first 3 sections. I already learned a lot. I can tell this will be well worth it. I think it'll make me use PI a lot more than I have in the last several months.

Thanks! I'm very happy to know it's helping you.

I use pIllusion as often as possible, and I hope you'll find yourself using it more and more.

I kinda feel left out here. I'd really like to buy the DVD, but as a 6.0 standard Video collection owner, I could not open the test files from your site. I went to Adobe hoping that 6.0>6.5 was a free upgrade patch (Newtek does this with Lightwave) but alas, it's $200. American. My question is will I be able to recreate the proper composites in my 6.0 and still follow along, or are there 6.5 specific features leaving me only a spectator as opposed to a participant? I'm new to AE and PI, so I was hoping to learn alot about both from your DVD. Whaddya think?

the upgrade from 6.0 to 6.5 used to be only $99. I guess they raised the price.

Actually, to learn any of what I cover, you don't really need 6.5, except, I think in 1 or 2 instances. And those are cool tricks, not meat and potatos stuff like the rest of the DVD.

Even though you can't open the AE projects, you will be able to learn virtually everything I cover and adapt it to your projects.

Orirignally, I hadn't even intended on sharing the AE projects, but I ultimately decided to share them since they would be helpful - but not necessary - at least in my opinion.

To be safe - Why don't you ask around and see if other people feel they would not have understood things withou those AE files?

Thanks for your interest.

Aharon,

I just received your DVD and began watching it yesterday. It actually helped me with a project I'm working on now. I've had PI for while but haven't used it much. The first 3 lessons I went through were terrific. Easy to follow and very useful. I am looking forward to the rest. I wasn't able to get one thing to work in AE 6.5, and have some questions about position data, but I'll give you more details if I can't reesolve it today. The great thing is, now I feel much more comfortable exploring different things in PI and AE, which is half of the fun anyway!

Thanks Again,

Alex

My apologies - I can't address any questions today. My father had triple-bypass surgery this morning (so far so good), and I am spending a lot of time at the hospital.

If you have any questions that are AE/PI related (but not necesserily related to the DVD), why don't you post it here?- someone else may already have the solution you need.

Or, if there is a problem with the DVD, you can email me directly at info(AT)pillusionfusion.com.

Thanks.

I have just started the tutorials, but from what I can see, if you are familiar with After Effects, you won't need the projects to learn this stuff.

I am really enjoying this. Such clear and easy to understand steps. And a good voice for tutorials.

I agree. I haven't even pulled the project files (although I may at some point). You really don't need them.

I am a little over halfway through and beginning to wonder about his sense of humor, but I am really enjoying this.

Not sure if that's good or bad. Like I tell my wife - They can't all be winners. But I try.

Finally got it...
I read a lot of reviews that mentioned the speed of the information as "too fast". Don't listen to them. With the short attention span I have, I was glad the progression took place so quickly. I got through the entire disc, with making my own versions of all projects, in a Saturday. Thanks, Aharon, this information really helped make a good impression during my first day on the job. My new boss was so impressed with the possibilities of Particle Illusion for the editing we do that he plans on working it into the budget next month. Thank god PI comes in all OS flavors.

Hi John-

That's what I like to hear!!! Glad you liked it. Really glad it helped you impress your boss.

Regarding the reviews you mentioned: Can you point me to them? I searched the forum, and this is the only string for the most part that talks about my DVD - I haven't seen anything like the stuff you mentioned, and if I've been reviewed, I'd love to read it.

Thanks.
