Triggering RAM Preview via script
on Jun 10, 2016 at 10:38:22 pm

Does After Effects allow a script to trigger the RAM preview? I was hoping to make one that would turn off the visibility of a certain type of layer (probably determined by label type), then trigger a RAM preview... and ideally revert the visibility change once the preview is stopped.

The visibility bit is not a problem, but I haven't been able to find any documentation for how I would call the preview, and am guessing that means it might not be possible... or just way more complicated than it's worth. Any thoughts?

From beginning to end of the workbar area:

myComp.ramPreviewTest(checkerboards, zoom, exposure);

(returns a string).

To play the ram preview with the same settings as the ones in the current viewer:

var i = app.activeViewer.activeViewIndex;
var options = app.activeViewer.views[i].options;

then use view.checkerboards (boolean), view.zoom (number), and view.exposure (number) as arguments.
