setting a min and max expression
on Mar 17, 2016 at 11:07:28 pm

hey everyone, im a total noob at expressions. im trying to create one that uses the Y rotation of a null to rotate multiple objects. the null speeds up over time and i want the object to reach only a certain height when it reaches the left and right sides. Im not sure if im explaining myself right but i essentially want to recreate the effect of a carnival swing, like the link below

youtube.com/watch?v=doBDWbU7-OQ

Where i'm at: ive been able to pickwhip the object's rotation to the null's Y rotation, but it spins 360 degrees as the null rotates, i'd like to set the min and max amounts. I'm sure there's another way to go about this, so any help is greatly apprecciated. thanks!!

I guess you could start with something like this:

maxAngle = 70;
maxSpeed = 450;
v = thisComp.layer("Null 1").transform.yRotation.speed;
linear(v,0,maxSpeed,0,maxAngle)
