give back a value from a expression control to a parameter
on Jun 19, 2015 at 3:08:53 am

Hey everyone,

is there a possibility to give back the value of an expression control to a parameter?

let's say that I have an layer control, where i select my layer. My second control is a slider control for maybe the opacity. Now I want to drive the opacity of my object selected by the layer control.

Is that possible without writing a javascript tool just with basic expression scripting knowledge?

best regards and thanks for your help

Yannic

An expression can't do anything other than set the value of the property hosting the expression. So each layer that you wanted to be affected by the layer control would have to have its own opacity expression, which would look something like this:

L = thisComp.layer("controls").effect("Layer Control")("Layer");
if (L.index == index) 100 else 0
