Align anchor point via expressions?
on Jan 13, 2015 at 4:25:01 pm

I have a bunch of layers and I need their to have their anchor point aligned to a specific point close to the center of the comp, so they animate from there outward, much like the sun rays in the old japanese flag.

I'd much prefer to have the points align there automatically via an expression, and I thought it would be as easy as using thiscomp.width/2 and thiscomp.height/2 to find the center, but when I apply it all the layers are getting out of whack, no idea why.

I have a vague idea that I might be able to solve it using some variation of toComp or toWorld, but have I'm not really familiar on how to use such expressions, can anyone help?

This is what I want:

This is what I'm getting:

The expression I'm trying is below in the box. Sorry if I'm asking something really stupid.

Thanks for your help.

x=thisComp.width/2;
y=thisComp.height/2;
z=0;
[x,y,z];
