use a slider control to move a group of layers
on Oct 23, 2014 at 5:12:53 pm

Greetings all,

I am trying to figure out a way to use a slider control, in combination with a (presumably rather complicated) expression, to move a group of layers from a collection of points (already determined by another expression copied below) to a single point. To put it another way: I have a group of 20x20 boxes that are all lined up nice and neat, and I would like to have a slider control that will move them all to or from the same point (on the other side of the screen), sequentially. It would be really cool if they would have some variation in their paths and not move in straight lines, but since I can't even figure out how to get them to move in straight lines, I'll take what I can get.

Does anyone have any thoughts? Anything you've got is welcome and much appreciated!

Thanks,
Steve

nameNum = thisLayer.name.split(" ")[1];
if (nameNum % 6 == 0) {
posX = thisComp.layer(index + 6).transform.position[0] + 20;
posY = thisComp.layer(index + 6).transform.position[1];
startPos = [posX, posY]
}
else{
posX = thisComp.layer(index + 1).transform.position[0];
posY = thisComp.layer(index + 1).transform.position[1] - 20;
startPos = [posX, posY]
}
