Making Wheels Move

HI

I watched a youtube tutorial making cars wheels move using iExpression. I tried to find this effect in AE CS6 - with no luck. The youtube video did not show where to get iExpressions.

Can anyone help, or suggest how I can make wheels move. I have a photoshop pic of a car - car on one layer and front and back wheels on two other layers. The psd file is in AE (imported as separate layers) and I have parented them and can move them like I need to, but I can't figure out how to make the wheels move (or spin) so they look like they are moving.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

You can get iExpressions from aescripts.

For 2D linear motion, you can use an expression like this for rotation of the wheel:

diam = width;
p1 = toComp(anchorPoint,0);
p2 = toComp(anchorPoint);
dist = length(p1,p2);
360*dist/(Math.PI*diam)

You may need to adjust the wheel diameter value (1st line). The expression only works once you have animated the movement of the car.
