Change opacity over time in selected values only
on Oct 20, 2013 at 8:04:32 am

Hello, I'm very new in this forum, but I searched it very carefully, and didn't find the solution (I found the Dan Ebberts expression samples, but I can't implement them to my project). I'd like to change the opacity of the layer randomly, but with ease over time and between 70 to 100% only. Additionally I would like to add this effect to the next 156 layers with different intervals so finally there will be the brick wall with every single brick changes its opacity absolutely independent. Please tell me how to do it?

I think I'd start by setting the opacity of the layer to 85% and then add a 15% wiggle like this:

freq = .5;
wiggle(freq,15);

Adjust the freq variable to a speed that looks right. It should automatically be different for each layer.

Dan, thanks a lot, works as charm, but the animation looks a little bit rough, the opacity changes are linear. Is it possible to make it more sinusoidal (ease in and out)?

It shouldn't be linear. Take a look at it in the graph editor and post a screen shot if it doesn't look right.
