Linking null object to track. How to add X offset?
on Jul 9, 2013 at 7:49:08 pm

Hi all,
I have three layers: motion path, null object and optical flare. I applied motion to null object and then linked its coordinates to optical flare. Now optical flare moves are the same as null object. In optical flare Position XY I have this expression: thisComp.layer(null3).transform.position. The question is: how to add an offset ot X coordinate? I need to place optical flare a little bit higher than the position of null object and keep the motion from my motion track.

Boris.

thisComp.layer(null3).transform.position

Maybe put a slider on the layer, and then add the slider's value to your X in the expression. Perhaps something like this:

myX = thisComp.layer("Null 3").transform.position[0] + effect("Slider Control")("Slider");
myY = thisComp.layer("Null 3").transform.position[1];
[myX,myY]

Then you can adjust the slider until you get the offset to your liking.

i found different solution.
anyway thx for the answer

x=thisComp.layer(null3).transform.position[0]+100;
y=thisComp.layer(null3).transform.position[1];
[x,y]
