toComp 3D null with Z offset?
on Feb 20, 2013 at 8:49:21 pm

I'm using the standard 3D null to 2D position expression:

L = thisComp.layer("null");
L.toComp(L.anchorPoint)

But in this case, I want to attach a Shine source point to the null. And since those lines are "cast" from a fake point in 3D space, I'd like to offset the position of the null further into Z space so I can have a bit more control over the Shine rays.

any ideas?

if you are still working on this, you may be able to simply add the z offset to the anchorPoint...

L = thisComp.layer("null");
zOffset = 100;
L.toComp(L.anchorPoint + [0,0,zOffset])

if i get a chance, i'll test it out, but i think it would work.
