Croping one big Video in X smaller ones
on Aug 22, 2011 at 4:13:38 pm

Hi,
I am pretty new to scripting in AE so i need some of your help :)

I need to crop a lot of videos (130) into small parts to get a cutout with a fixed size and position.
The Videos also have different duration and the final crops has to have the exact same time.

eg.

i have a video with the following settings:
size 1000x1000
duration 00:00:12:20

and i want to crop it to
Video A
size 200x400

Video B
size 800x400

Video C
size 100x1000

and they should have all the same duration as the main video...

i tryed to code a bit but its difficult for me to find out witch attributes my comp has eg what the value for duration or the anchor point is...

var selectedFootage = app.project.selection;

function setCompositionSize( selectedFootage )
{
for( var i=0; i {
if( (selectedFootage[i] instanceof CompItem) )
{
selectedFootage[i].width = 1100;
selectedFootage[i].height = 800;
}
}
}
setCompositionSize(selectedFootage);

i hope you guys can help me or at least help me to find help :P

I think I would just create comps A, B, and C (of the dimensions and duration you specified), drop the original footage in each comp and position it to get the slice you want. You could then add those comps as layers to a larger comp and assemble the layout you want. Unless I'm missing something.
