Opacity either on or off
on Jul 15, 2011 at 8:09:38 am

Hello Cow :)

Newbie post, so apologies if this is too basic.

I'm rigging characters with some layers which will be either 100% or 0% visible.

Would it be possible to put an expression on opacity so that the animator won't be able to accidentaly select anything in between those parameters.

To refrase incase I'm not making sense, I'm looking for a way to limit the opacity-parameter to either 0% or 100%

Grateful for any help :)
Synnøve

This should let your operator still scrub the value but force the result to 0% or 100%:

value < 50 ? 0 : 100

Thank you very much :)

I also found this after I posted my question, which seems to involve less scrubbing:

opacity*100;

I was hoping there would be a more "elegant" way to solve this, as I'm no fan of having the animators scrubbing on red numbers, but perhaps that means expressions is not the best way.

I'v tried pickwipping opacity to a checkbox, but then the box will only choose between 0% and 1%. I've tried modifying the pickwip expression with no luck.

Would anyone have a suggestion on how to modify it so it jumps from 0 to 100?

How about this:

effect("Checkbox Control")("Checkbox")*100
