Achieving 150 Mbps
on Jan 24, 2014 at 9:12:40 pm

Hi everyone,

I've produced a commercial, the broadcast specs required are:

File format MPEG-2 elementary stream (.m2v file)
Profile and level 4:2:2Profile@HighLevel (422P@HL)
Bitrate 150 Mbps constant bitrate (CBR)
GOP structure I-frames only (GOP size (N) = 1, M = 1)
Sequence header On each GOP
First GOP Closed
Timecode Starting at 00:00:00:00 and increasing continuously

I'm using Adobe Media Encoder CC. The problem I'm having is that the maximum bitrate it would allow me in M2V format is 80 Mbps, which is almost half of what is required.
Can anyone please share a word, I'd really appreciate.

Thanks in advance,
Osama

Please make sure you have updated to the latest version of AME. This was a bug we fixed in version 7.1.

Was the bug fixed in CS6 by any chance?

The bug was introduced early in the CC cycle and did not exist in CS6. You should be able to create a 4:2:2/High 150+ Mbps file using AME CS6.

Thanks. I am on CS6 and couldn't get bitrates go past 80 and in some cases 50 and 40Mbs on MPEG and H.264 files. I'll try it again.

The available bitrate is determined by the Level/Profile you have selected. If you select 4:2:2/High you will be able to get up to 300 Mbps.
