Supplying video for Sky Digital TV

I have to submit a video in 720x576 .mov DV format for a UK Sky Digital TV music channel. But my video was shot in 16:9. Do I supply footage which appears squashed on my PC monitor for broadcast with the TV receiver stretching the image horizontally?

Thanks, Ben

The first thing you should do is LEARN THE DELIVERY SPECIFICATIONS. There is no standard set of specs. each organization has its own.

Thus, you need to look up the delivery specs for this Sky Digital TV music channel. Once you have them, you can ask more meaningful questions.

Hey Ben - which channel is it? You sure they don't take 16:9 material?

If their delivery spec is "720 x 576 DV .mov" - that could still have a 16:9 or a 4:3 pixel aspect ratio. You need to get clarification.

And if they only accept 4:3 footage, I'd recommend making it 4:3 letterbox, so you have a black bar at the top & bottom of the frame and then can you still fit all your footage in.

Let me know - I run 3 channels on SKY Digital and am familiar with content delivery specs.
