Can't get SONY broadcast monitor crisp
on Sep 2, 2010 at 9:55:28 pm

I just connected this great little monitor to my tower at work and I can't seem to find any settings that prevent it from being fuzzy. It seems as though the resolution is off but I can't fix it.

The monitor = sony lmd-2451w
(http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/cat-monitors/cat-videoproduction/product-LMD2451W/)

It's connected to my Mac tower via DVI (not DVI-D) and the resolution on both the monitor and the control panel is 1920 x 1200 @ 60hz (NTSC Television).

Please help!

Alex D.

1920 x 1200 @ 60hz (NTSC Television).

This isn't NTSC or any other flavor of TV for that matter.

Get a proper video card for your Mac. Decklink or Kona.

Get the SDI module for the monitor
http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/product-BKM243HS/

Plug it in. Done.

It isn't sharp and clear because you are sending it a computer signal, not a broadcast signal. You are sending a non-standard frame size...and an RGB signal, not YUV. It won't look sharp unless you feed it a signal with an HD Capture card. AJA, Matrox, Decklink...
