We are trying to move from standard def to Hi Def without breaking our piggy bank. Anyone know if the following is doable?
We shoot with 3 JVC 250U cameras in Standard def now.
We want to shoot 720P SDI out as high a quality as possible. If we can upgrade our Broadcast Pix switcher to Hi Def. ($4000.00+/-) we can go into the BP via SDI, do our switching, and go out of the BP Hi Def SDI into our AJA Kona card where we can capture on to our Final Cut Pro media server. Then we go out of the AJA card to our Sony DSR DR 1800A DVCam recorder (at standard def for backup).
If the Kona card will down convert internally and send standard def out, then I'm good to go. Otherwise I guess I need a Hi Def to Standard Def downcoverter. Anyone know of a good stand alone one?
