AES/EBU vs embedded SDI

Can anyone explain the main differences between AES/EBU and embedded SDI audio, other than the fact that one is carried along with the picture signal on an SDI cable and the other uses XLR style separate connectors. Once the audio is layed down on an HDCAM tape is there any way to tell the difference for example?

ONLY difference is they come in and out by different cables.
There is EXACTLY same information in both signals.

yep

as the name says embedded audio. it is a AES/EBU stream packed(embedded) in the horizontal blanking area of a sdi video signal. there is no difference except that it is carriered by the SDI signal. the sdi signal is just a train where the AES/EBU audio signal is traveling whith (that's a very sesamestreet explaination ;-) ) sorry for that
