Posting Broadcast Video and more!

Hey everyone,

Just a couple general questions for you professionals.

Here's what I'm running (If it's relevant):
Mac 8-core 2.8ghz
6gigs ram
Final Cut Pro 7
After Effects CS4
AJA kona LS card

I have a couple clients now asking me to post their tv spots so they can have the tv stations download them for broadcast, as opposed to sending them a beta sp tape. I have always preferred to send a tape, but the download factor is a time saver.

What are the drawbacks to doing this? What video codec is recommended? And does it have to be 720x486 or is 720x480 ok for broadcast?

Thanks in advance!

Casey

Many of the stations I deal with have given me different specs for what they want - most are QT or mpeg-2. You will be best checking with the stations you deal with.

I second that: check with the station.

And in this part of the country, distributing spots via FTP is a pretty popular thing among local stations.
