Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the right forum but I would think you guys have information or experience in what we need.

Is there a Software out for the OS X platform to perform Live Editing or Switching (Video Mixer).
I have looked at Blackmagic Intensity Pro cards.
But we are not 100% sure if they are right solution.

A program that I have played around with (but never used for a real taping or broadcast) is Live Channel Pro by Channel Storm. This program allows you to connect multiple cameras (through Firewire or capture cards) and switch them live. The live stream can then be output through your computer's secondary monitor output or directly to a web stream. It also allows the use of keyed graphics that are made as PNGs. This program seems like what you are looking for, but I don't know anything about the performance. They have a full version for free that outputs with a water mark, so this would be a good way to test it and see if the program can handle what you are trying to do.

Hope this helps ...

These are other alternative you can use them on a mac with bootcamp or maybe parallel.

http://vidblaster.com/

imop avtake is more for broadcasting though videoblaster does look interesting

Unfortunately they are all limited to 4 fire wire cams. They say its a hardware limitation but i don't know if it has to do with thoughput or the lack of more than 4 fire wire ports on available mobos?

The only workaround i see to this (using the avtake) is to have 2 systems, the second feeding the the first through one of the 4 fire wire ports but this would need 2 directors and system one would have to rely on what system 2 feeds.

The only other software based mixing app that i know of is broadcast pix but its tied to its proprietary hard ware. This sytem looks great.

let us know how you work those challenges.

good luck
