Travel to Asia and Australia

Hello all,

I'm preparing for a trip to Asia and Australia and want to pick the COW's collective brain on traveling to Asia and Australia from the US. The trip is in late May and we will be shooting in Singapore, Hong Kong, Sidney, and maybe Tokyo.

So my big questions are:

1 - What documentation do I need in order to bring my equipment in to each different country?

2- Do I have to hire locals? Or, I should say, am I permitted to work in these countries? (it's just a bunch of talking head corporate interviews at our hotel or at their offices. We usually just have a producer, shooter, and a grip.)

3- I am going to have to convert power for my lights. Any other power issues to consider?

4- Lastly, am I missing anything? I have my passport, do I need anything else?

Any tips on international production would be great.

Thanks- Mike

The Aussies will get pissed off if you write Sidney... and may strip search you :)

Tokyo is 100V so your US bulbs will be ok,pretty sure the others are all 230V-240V as ex Brit handouts.Just get 240V bulbs rather than transformers. You will need travel plugs also ofcourse.

You,ll need paper work for your gear, for customs.

Yeah - as an Aussie living in Sidney we prefer you spell it Sydney. When you get here you won't wanna leave so bring lots of extra clothes!

What would I do without the 'UNDO' button!!!!

Also check with US Customs. Have a list of all your equipment with S/Ns for them to stamp.
