Sound in Betacam channels 3&4?
on Dec 30, 2006 at 5:50:01 am

A network in the USA is requesting us to send them materials in Betacam SP with the SAME audio in FOUR channels, but we only have an UVW-1800 and a PVW-2800 and they record in two channels.

AFAIK, the only series of Betacam Machines that recorded in four channels were the BVW series -BVW75 i.e.- but they have been unavailable for a long time here in Mexico City.

Is there a setting in the UVW or PVW machines that would allow you to record to channels 3&4? Or some trick?

Any ideas? Any other way to record to four channels?

They are adamant about this.

TIA

Best regards,

Jj

You'll need to make arrangements with the client to either make an exception for your tapes, or send your project to another production house (possibly in another city) to have that house create a tape with the proper number of audio channels.

The UVW 1800 lacks the internal electronics and does not have the proper number of heads to record AFM audio on CH 3 & 4.
