I was hoping some folks could enlighten me as to any differences allowed in describing title and action safe area for HDTV formats. It seems a designer may be able to use more horizontal and vetical room in HDTV as opposed to the old SD NTSC analog 10-20% title safe that is the default safe-grid in After Effects, Flame and other compositing/design systems.
Wouldn't HD formats allow more room for type since it's a digital format less likely to arbitrarily crop and shift the picture on a consumer plasma or LCD set? Do CRT HD sets threaten to crop similar to consumer NTSC tv sets?
Is there an NAB white paper regarding this anywhere?
