Campark Action Cam footage not editable - what to convert to??
on Jul 16, 2017 at 1:02:33 pm

Hi All,

This is my first post on the forum.

I am an amateur video editor. I have recently bought a 4K Action Cam - Campark. Footage from this camera in standard 1920x1080 edits in Vegas Pro without any problems. The 4K footage (it is actually 3840x2160) can't be edited. On Vegas pro I get strange flickering on crossfades. Video below:

I have also downloaded the latest trial edition of Adobe Premiere Pro to see if the problem is with Vegas or my footage. And I have issues in APP too. After adding videos to the timeline, video repeats frames or certain few seconds fragments randomly, which leads me to thinking that my 4K footage is in some strange format. Info from MediaInfo below. I thought of converting them to something else to be able to edit in Vegas, but Handbrake doesn't open my footage. I get this message:

"Handbrake will not be able to encode the selected source as it did not find the valid source with titles to encode. This is due to the following reasons:
- The source file is not a valid video file or is a format that HandBrake does not support
- The source may be copy protected or include DRM"

Would you be able to suggest anything? Do I need a certain codec to be able to process this footage in Vegas Pro? These videos play OK in Windows though.

If Vegas and PPro show the same issue perhaps it's something about decoding the GOP structure that's at issue.
Can you try converting it to DNxHR which is an iFrame codec?

Re-wrapping in ffmpeg cured the issue
