XDCAM Transfer Unsupported Codec
on Nov 15, 2014 at 3:40:17 am

Hi, there. I'm been trying to solve this problem for a while, but I don't know what to do, so I was wondering if anyone here could help me.

I am supposed to deliver MXF files for broadcasting in these specifications:

Commercial name                          : XDCAM HD422
Format profile                                  : OP-1a
Format settings                               : Closed / Complete
Format                                   : MPEG Video
Commercial name                          : XDCAM HD422
Format profile                           : 4:2:2@High
Format settings, GOP                    : M=3, N=15
Format_Settings_Wrapping        : Frame
Bit rate                                 : 50.0 Mbps
Width                                     : 1 920 pixels
Height                                   : 1 080 pixels
Display aspect ratio                     : 16:9
Frame rate                               : 59.94i
Standard                                 : Component
Color space                               : YUV
Chroma subsampling                    : 4:2:2

So, I am working with FCP7 and PRORES HQ, in a 23.976 frame rate. After I have my editing complete, I export a prores file and put it into Compressor. The thing is, after making the frame rate and format conversion, with XDCAM 422 in compressor, and putting it back in FCP to finally export it with Sony XDCAM, the XDCAM Transfer tells me that the codec inside the MXF is unsupported. I could make a 35Mb/s video, 1440x1080, adding it to FCP and then exporting in the my correct specifications. The XDCAM makes it a 1920x1080, HD422. It worked, I tried. But I lose quality. When I do it the other way, the way I think I'm supposed to in order to maintain the quality, the file seems to have a codec problem.
Have anyone seen this? I really don't know what to do anymore.

Can you export from FCP7 as ProRes HQ, use Compressor to change the frame rate to a new ProRes 1080i60 file, then bring that new ProRes file into FCP7 and Export as XDCAM?
